These two pieces were originally conceived as part of a live set commissioned for the inaugural In the Open festival, which took place from July 21-23, 2023 in Oak Hill, New York. In preparing for the performance, I tried to select a set of instruments that would allow me as much range of improvisation within a predetermined framework as possible. Pri Udi represents a snapshot of the result.

Unfortunately, the set at the festival was not recorded. These takes were done in the studio, but I have endeavored to make them as faithful as possible to the spirit of the performance. Therefore, there were no overdubs, and minimal processing was done after-the-fact.
